Wally picks up both of his Majors in Cambridge!!!

Congratulations to Amanda, Nancy and Waldsee aka "Wally".

Wally picked up both of his AKC majors by going Best of Winners/Winners Dog at the Anoka/Cambridge Summer Solstice shows in Cambridge Minnesota on June 22-23, 2010.

Wally is out of the Maya/William litter that was born in April 2009. Wally's Sire is William (Am/Can CH Twin Trees Aristocat) and Maya (Darkenwald Chasing Moonbeams). Maya's littermate brother is Clancy who is the #2 Keeshond in the US right now after going #1 in Canada in 2009. Clancy is BIS BISS Am/Can CH Darkenwald Cavalier O'Southcar CHOF CGC.

Amanda showed Wally very nicely all weekend long. On Thursday the judge was Mr. William Cunningham who had many nice comments about Wally. On Friday the judge was Mr Wayne Bousek who also was very impressed with this 14 month old youngster. Wally also picked up Reserve Winners Dog on Saturday and Sunday. The photo attached is of Amanda, Wally and Thursday's judge Mr. William Cunningham.

Wally now has 8 points and both majors and is well on his way to his US AKC Championship. He also has Reserve Winners Dog to the major under judge Mr. Eugene Blake at the well attended Heart of America Keeshond specialty which was held November 2009. Wally was just 6 months old at the time. Mr. Blake loved Wally and also has given him Winners Dog at a show back in January.

Congratulations Amanda, Nancy and Wally on the very nice start to Wally's show career.

Betsy and I, as well as everyone at Tamarack Keeshonden, are proud of you.

Odin finishes his AKC Championship!!!!!

Odin (CH Tamarack's North Star) finished his AKC Championship at the Minneapolis dog show in November going Best of Winners/Winners Dog for a 3 point major win!!!

Odin is owned by Peter and D'Nay Rampaart, they also own Loki (Tamarack's Boot Scootin' with Darkenwald). Odin was Peter and D'Nay's first show dog and they did a wonderful job handling him. Peter showed Odin to his Championship and was thrilled when he won! Odin is a very nice male who will enter in the special's ring when he grows up a little more.

Odin is the son of our girl Lily (Ch Dreamwoods Our Little Secret) and Strider (Am/Can CH Darkenwald's Aragorn). Strider is owned by Suzette Lefebvre of Virginia. Odin is also Walker's littermate brother.

Congratulations Peter, D'Nay and Odin from the Tamarack Keeshonden family!!!

Walker finishes 2009 at #16 in the country

Our male Walker (Am CH Tamarack's Northern Bogwalker) finished #16 in the country in Keeshonden breed points for 2009. He did this in limited showing. He was entered at a total of 12 shows and won Best of Breed at 10 of them losing once to his brother Cooper and the final show of the year to the dog that finished number 1 in the country Parker.

Hopefully he finished high enough to be invited to the prestigious Top Keeshond Event at the Keeshond National show in May. We will be watching the mailbox in the near future.

Another proud news announcement is that Clancy (Darkenwald's Cavalier O'Southcar) owned by Lynne Hewitt in Canada (Cooper's breeder) took first Award of Merit at the AKC/Eukanuba Tournament of Champions in California in December. Clancy is Maya's brother who is the mom of the Lola/Waldsee/Loki/Casper litter with our male William. Congrats to Lynne, Suzette and Clancy for this wonderful win.

Oshkosh shows and other news

I know it has been a long time since I have posted an update for Tamarack Keeshonden. The holidays have a way of keeping things busy.

Nancy Cameron and Waldsee and me with Lola went to the Oshkosh Wisconsin shows this past weekend and had some nice success.

Waldsee (Tamarack's German Waltz at Darkenwald) Took Best of Winners and Winners Dog on Friday under judge Mr. Eugene Blake. This is the same judge who gave Waldsee the nice reserve win at the specialty in November. This was Wally's second point after going Best of Winners in December at St. Cloud under Mrs. Karen MacFarlane.

Lola (Tamarack's Copacabana at Darkenwald), the girl we kept, took Winners Bitch both Friday and Sunday for her fist two points. Friday was judge Blake and Sunday was Judge Mr. Michael Dachel.

Both judges commented about how much they liked the dogs. In addition other spectators at the show, one a very seasoned Keeshond breeder also commented on them. They are really starting to turn heads.

Congrats to Nancy, Amanda and Waldsee for such a nice start to Wally's show career.

Waldsee takes Reserve Winners Dog to the major at HOAKC

This past weekend (10/31-11/1) was the Heart of America Keeshond Club Specialty show in Kansas City , Kansas. Nancy Cameron and Waldsee made the trip down for the show. Waldsee was the youngest dog entered at the show at just short of 7 months of age.

Waldsee (Tamarack's German Waltz at Darkenwald) took first in his 6-9 month puppy class both days and first in his sweeps class on Saturday. On Sunday he also won Reserve Winners Dog to the dog that went Best of Winners over all of the other class dogs who were all much older than him. This was reserve to a major win which just meant that Wally had to beat a lot of other male dogs to get his ribbon and trophy.

The judge was Mr. Eugene Blake and he really liked "Wally". After the photo Mr. Blake spent quite a bit of time with Nancy and I talking about how much he liked him. In addition many exhibitors asked about him and his pedigree. It was a proud moment for Nancy Cameron who owns Waldsee and for us as the breeders of this fine young dog.

Congratulations Nancy, Amanda and Waldsee. I see a very bright future for this nice male.

Waldsee also has a Best Puppy in Show at a B match when he was 4 months old. His brother Loki (Tamarack's Boot Scootin' with Darkenwald) has 2 reserves at the Hutchinson all breed show as well as a Group 3 puppy win at Hutchinson at the age of exactly 6 months. Loki is owned by Peter and D'Nay Rampaart. This litter has done some nice winning right out of the gate.

I also should point out that our male special Walker (CH Tamarack Northern Bogwalker) took Best of Breed both days at the Hutchinson shows in October (10/3-4). Walker has been entered in 5 shows in 2009 being shown just 10 times and he has won 9 of 10 Best of Breed ribbons and appears to be ranked #17 in the country as of today.

Walker takes Best of Breed again!

Walker was shown at the Rochester Kennel Club Dog show on September 12-13 and took Best of Breed both days again. Walker is Am CH Tamarack Northern Bogwalker

He now has been shown 8 times at 4 shows in 2009 and has 7 of the 8 Best of Breed ribbons to his credit. He is very close to cracking the Top 20 with the dogs ahead of him being shown much more often than he has.

Walker is almost 22 months old and really maturing nicely. He wont be 2 years old until late November. He was the pick male from our first litter between Lily (Am CH Dreamwoods Our Little Secret) and Strider (Am/Can CH Darkenwald Aragorn).
